Moving your Utilities Monitoring & Control to the Cloud

Cloud computing is becoming more common place with enterprise management applications. UMAC have concentrated efforts on developing the UMAC SMT™ which is a truly global cloud hosted utilities monitoring and data acquisition system.

The SMT™ (Service Management Tool) offers clients a lower overhead, lower prices, quick installation and is a fully scalable system facilitating unlimited tags, for monitoring utilities, plant and machine operation. It is a very attractive option for many companies large and small.

Once our clients become comfortable with the concept of the Cloud hosting their data, the benefits of such an acqui-sition become obvious. It is important to realise that the Cloud is not ideal for all applications, and there is certain information that should never be stored in the Cloud, as with all technological solu-tions, it has strengths and weaknesses, establishing these will make your de-cision easier. The cloud is effectively a large array of remotely located internet-based servers designed store and handle large amounts of data. Sometimes referred to as “data centres” or “server farms” your information is stored off site at these third party centres and can be re-trieved by connecting to the Cloud server via an internet connection.

These servers are used by you as if they are your own, al-lowing you to store large amounts of data without the need for server hardware, IT support and the usual mainte-nance, upgrade and service costs.
